Little Heroes

Organization Website: Little HEROES

Little Heroes knows the value of providing youth with fun and inclusive games to play at recess time. We aim to provide this such atmosphere at Franklin. We also provide youth leadership opportunities which allow students to gain more ownership over their schools and communities called Little Heroes. We devise games which teachers can play with their students. We provide trainings to ensure the educators have every skill needed to have the confidence to take their classes out to play more often. This creates a fun way for your kids to learn and helps strengthen the bonds between student and teacher by allowing the students to see the educator in a different light. One created around play

Playground Heroes - Our coaches communicate with teachers and administration and select 20-30 4th - 6th-grade students to be our Playground HEROES. We train these students throughout the year on leadership and conflict resolution skills to further allow them to make an immediate impact in their school. Playground HEROES are also trained on all rules of the yard, as well as, all recess games and activities. We have found this role to be a significant incentive for increased proficiency in academic performance as well as a major confidence booster for our students. Playground HEROES are responsible for maintaining a well organized and inclusive recess yard while setting impeccable examples both inside and outside of the classroom. Our goal is to have each of these future leaders leave their elementary school and continue to be the leaders they become over the course of the year.
