Tet Celebration

As we all know, Lunar New Year has come and Franklin School celebrates this with a ceremony. It's listed on the 21st of February as the “Tet Celebration.” Each year, we have a lion dance, provided by Vo Vi Nam Viet Vo Dao of San Jose. It features ribbon twirling, a fan dance, a flower dance, and a martial arts performance. These are all Vietnamese traditions.

Franklin Spelling Bee Winners

Every year, the teachers’ union in our school district (FMEA) sponsors a district-wide Spelling Bee for students in 3rd to 8th grades. This is a contest where students compete to spell a selection of words. Each school in the Franklin-McKinley district hosts their own school spelling bee with a written spelling test. Then, they send the school “winners” to the final “District Bee.”

Franklin Students Place at the FMEA Track Meet

On Saturday, October 21 st , students from all over FMSD came together at Sylvandale Middle School to compete in the annual FMEA Track Meet. The event is sponsored and hosted by the teachers who work in FMSD, who are in the FMEA teachers’ union. The teachers’ union also sponsors our annual Spelling Bees, Literacy Fairs, and spring Basketball Tournaments for students.
