New School / Construction Update

Some people may wonder what’s going on at Franklin School. The construction started several months ago. The school site has been remodeled, but it isn’t finished yet. The office is now near the C-wing. The H-wing and the G-wing were also added to the school, to replace the old, worn-out “portable” classrooms. As you can see, half of the campus construction is almost completed.

After a long wait, Franklin is forming a new look. It looks bigger, better and having more room. The district decided to remodel Franklin because it is the oldest in the district. The school cafeteria is estimated to be finished by the end of October. Soon, construction will begin on the old B, C, D, and E-wing classrooms. Later, they will take out the old “portables” and install more blacktop and playground areas. We can’t wait to see how great everything will look when it’s all finished!

Mrs. Witmeyer (a sixth grade teacher) said, “Our school is very old and it is time to update the facilities.” Mrs. Lopez and Mrs. Malagon (noon-duties) stated that, “The school needs bigger bathrooms and a bigger kitchen.” Some staff members have different perspectives when it comes to the construction. Although Mr. Velasco (a sixth grade teacher) thinks that it’s “kinda crazy, kinda cool in the future,” Mr. Francisco (a construction worker) thinks, “It’s terrible!” Whatever it is, we all hope that the new Franklin School will be a better place for kids in the district.
