Principal's Message
August 11, 2025
Dear Franklin Elementary Families,
Welcome to Franklin Elementary School, a proud part of the Franklin-McKinley School District and home of the Franklin Patriots! Whether you’re a returning family or new to our school community, we're delighted to have you with us.
As your principal, now in my third year at Franklin, I feel truly honored to lead a school where every child is celebrated for who they are and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. At Franklin, learning occurs most effectively when students feel safe, seen, and valued. We embody our core values of Community, Responsibility, and Respect every day.
We're proud to serve approximately 500 outstanding students in grades TK through 6, and we’re especially excited now to offer two Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classes. As a former TK teacher myself, I’ve seen firsthand how this early learning experience helps our youngest students build a strong academic and social-emotional foundation.
Our dedicated team of 50 staff members collaborates to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. You’ll find passionate teachers, caring support staff, a friendly new part-time librarian from FMSD, and a helpful front office team always ready to partner with you in your child’s education.
As Franklin Patriots, our students are leaders, learners, and kind citizens of the world. A Patriot is someone who stands up for others (an upstander), takes pride in their school and community, and uses courage and compassion to do what’s right, even when it’s difficult. At Franklin, we care deeply, work hard, and always support each other!
Our Mission: Franklin is a multicultural learning environment where students’ differences are celebrated and supported academically, socially, and emotionally, enabling them to achieve success both inside and outside of the classroom.
Our Vision: We strive to be a diverse learning community where students celebrate differences, show empathy toward others, and actively employ growth mindsets to solve problems, thereby creating a more just and evolving world.
Thank you so much for choosing Franklin Elementary School. We can’t wait to learn and grow together this year and in the years ahead!
Warm regards,
Kristen Kovac
