Principal's Message
Dear Franklin Community,
I am excited to welcome you to another year at Franklin! As I begin my second year as principal, it is truly an honor to serve our students, dedicated staff members, and our wonderful families. Together, we create a vibrant learning community, and I look forward to working alongside all of you to make this school year a memorable and successful one.
A little about me—my background includes 30 years of teaching, coaching, and administration in California, Australia, and the Philippines. As the daughter of a Captain in the U.S. Navy, I grew up moving around the United States and attended many different schools. These experiences have given me a wealth of opportunities and have shaped the person and educator I am today. I’m also the proud mother of two grown children in their mid-twenties, who mean the world to me, along with our dog and cat, who keep our home filled with love and laughter.
At Franklin, our teachers are caring, dedicated, and hardworking. They go above and beyond to ensure that every student feels valued, supported, and inspired. Our school truly becomes a second home to our students, where they can learn, grow, and thrive in a nurturing environment.
My main goal as principal is safety. To foster this, we are committed to a school environment built on positive reinforcement, kindness, responsibility, and respectfulness. These values help us create the incredible environment that makes Franklin such a special place to learn and grow.
Our initiatives this year are focused on building strong habits and supporting the whole child. These include:
- Being on time to school and ready to learn every day – We believe that punctuality and preparedness are keys to success.
- Zero tolerance for bullying – We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
- Social-emotional awareness and support – We focus on helping students develop the skills they need to understand and manage their emotions, fostering a positive school culture.
- English Language Development support – We are dedicated to supporting our Multi-Lingual Learners, with the goal of reclassification as a major achievement.
We are committed to fostering curiosity, kindness, academic success, and social-emotional growth. We value the partnership between school and home, and I encourage you to stay engaged and involved throughout the year as we work together to provide the best possible experience for your child.
Here's to a year full of growth, achievement, and community!
Warmly,
Kristen Kovac
