Principal's Message

Dear Franklin Elementary School Students, Families, Teachers, and Community,

It is with enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Principal of Franklin Elementary School. I am honored to have this opportunity to lead a school of diversity, extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive parent and school community. Along with teachers and staff, I am committed to setting high academic standards while providing a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity and a love of learning by instilling confidence and a positive work ethic for all students.

I have worked at Franklin Elementary School for the past three years as a first-grade teacher and have been dedicated to education for more than 30 years. I have worked with students ranging in age from Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade in various roles. I have been a teacher, District EL TOSA, SEAL (Sobrato Early Academic Language) Coach, K-6 Instructional Coach, and now as your Principal in Franklin-McKinley School District. As I shift my role into principal, I am bringing all of these experiences with me as I partner with each of you to ensure your child’s success.

As a principal of Franklin Elementary School, I would like to welcome you to our school, home of the Franklin Patriots. With hard work and dedication, I believe that all of our students can achieve their goals.

Parent involvement is essential to Franklin Elementary School. Please communicate with your child’s teacher(s) in person, by phone, email, or ParentSquare. This shows your child that school is important. Communication is key. Your child’s teacher is always your first point of contact.

I welcome your conversations and positive input throughout this year. Our students are the primary focus of our partnership. May we collectively celebrate the successes during the 2023-2024 school year.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns on ParentSquare or email me at kristen.kovac@fmsd.org.  I look forward to meeting and working with each of you!

Sincerely,

Kristen Kovac

Principal
