Free At-Home Covid Test Kits for All Students
The District has now received free at-home Covid-19 test kits for all of our students from CDPH. The test kits will be available for distribution at Franklin on Thursday from 2-5pm and Friday from 9-12pm. For students that do not pick up their test kits and test over the weekend we will be using the allotted test to test them when they return on Monday. If you do not want your child tested with the rapid test please contact the school.
 
Here are some key points about the at-home tests:

• The at-home tests being provided have been approved by the FDA under Emergency Use Authorization as rapid antigen tests with results in under 30 minutes.
• There are two (2) tests per kit. Each test kit and test is intended to be used and taken by the same student. The tests should be taken 1-3 days apart as per the manufacturer’s instructions for use. With school starting on January 10th, we recommend testing on Friday, January 7th and Sunday, January 9th.
• There is no requirement to use the rapid tests or to submit the test results to the school; however, we are highly encouraging the use to keep everyone safe.  We ask that you report all positive test results to our school.

COVID-19 Safety Protocol

• Symptom screening requires that anyone sick stays home. If you are symptomatic, please stay home and get tested immediately.
•  Report all positive COVID cases to your school.
• Masks are required, unless exempt, for indoor spaces for all students and staff at our campuses and district facilities.
• Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer throughout the day.
• In addition, our school and district facilities were upgraded with MERV-13 air filters.
• PCR testing to quickly identify and mitigate the spread of the virus in our community. Schedules vary by site. 

On-going COVID Testing
Franklin-McKinley School District continues to be committed to providing free testing for all staff and students at all of its sites on a weekly basis. If interested in participating please register here.  

We expect that we will experience higher than normal levels of COVID-19 positivity rates due to the persistence of the Delta variant and the rise of the Omicron variant. With this in mind, we are working with our testing partners to provide all possible avenues for testing service.
