Start of Year Letter from Principal Jacinto

August 15, 2017

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:

Welcome to Franklin’s 2017-2018 school year! I hope each of you had a fantastic and relaxing summer. I am excited to be back at school and looking forward to the amazing possibilities of the coming school year. I want to take a moment to offer a special welcome to new Franklin families. The school office is open and my door is always open. The staff and I are looking forward to an incredible and successful year for every Franklin student.

The first day for students is Monday, August 21st. This is a Schedule 2 day for Grades 1-6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 1:35 p.m. Kindergarten is on a regular bell schedule; 8:20 am-1:35 pm.

We have some changes to our staff roster this year. I would like to welcome the following staff members to the Franklin family:

  •   Leslie Hatcher Rosas – Kindergarten Teacher

  •   Anthony Alvarado – 1st Grade Teacher

  •   Doreen Ogata – 3rd Grade Teacher

  •   Allison Commiciotto - 4th Grade Teacher

  •   Aloysius Velasco – 6th Grade Teacher

  •   Tyler Hernandez – 5th/6th Grade SDC Teacher

  •   Thania Garcia – RSP Para-Educator

    Parent Coffee Social

On August 21st from 8:30 – 9:30 am, please join us in the cafeteria quad for some coffee, donuts, and an opportunity to socialize with other Franklin community members. This is a great opportunity to meet new parents as well as catch up with familiar faces after the long summer break.

    New School Update

It is with great pleasure that I share with you the progress on the construction of the new school. The school office, 12 classrooms, and a new playground have been completed and will be ready for the first day of school. Unfortunately, the kindergarten classrooms and cafeteria will not be ready for our students. The goal is to have the cafeteria ready by August 28th and the kindergarten rooms completed by September 25th. Construction will continue throughout the coming year; however, the new buildings have added a warm and positive feel to the overall atmosphere of our campus.

    Parking

Parking this year will be a challenge due to construction. On the first day of school, families will park across the street in the fairgrounds parking lot. San Jose Police will help cross students and families at the 10th street crosswalk. Parking on campus will be extremely limited, as it will be used for our school buses, drop off and pick up, and construction materials. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience this may cause. We ask students to use the buses, and parents to use the drop-off and pick-up lanes, whenever possible.

Again, welcome to another wonderful school year! The Franklin Staff and I are excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year and we are honored that you entrust us with your children. I look forward to working with you as we continue to provide an engaging and rewarding educational program for each student. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to support you or your child.

    Sincerely,

    Jose Jacinto, Principal
