Franklin's Staff of the Year!

Franklin’s Staff of the Year

Written by:  Mrs. Boram

It’s that time of year again!  Time to recognize some of Franklin’s most excellent staff members for their hard work and dedication to our students’ success. Ms. My Le Thai and Mrs. Jean Uy have been nominated and chosen by their peers as Franklin’s staff of the year. They all possess incredible qualities that make Franklin such a great place to learn.  Congratulations to these two superior educators!

Ms. My Le Thai

Kindergarten teacher, Ms. My Le, is Franklin’s Certificated Employee of the Year!  Teachers who nominated her for this award said, “Ms. My Le is an amazing teacher!  She goes above and beyond for her students.  She sets the bar really high and works tirelessly to get all her students there.  She truly believes everyone, no matter where they come from, can be successful in school.  She is a team player who is always willing to go the extra mile to make grade level and Small Learning Community events extra special.  She helps everybody who asks for it (and even if you don’t!) and shares all her resources.  My Le takes newcomers from all grade levels into her class for early phonics instruction.  Her enthusiasm for teaching and dedication to Franklin make her a great choice for Certificated Employee of the Year.”  Mrs. Takacs includes, “There are so many things that can be said about Ms. My Le.  She always puts her students first. They know how to read and write sentences before leaving kindergarten, she has nurtured them as artists as they have learned about Van Gogh and painted their own "Starry Night" paintings (check them out on her classroom window!), and she has taught them yoga.  She is supportive of her fellow kinder teachers, and she has been a mentor teacher for many new teachers over the years. We all benefit from her great teaching.”  Thank you, Ms. My Le, for your commitment to all of our students!

Mrs. Jean Uy

Mrs. Uy is Franklin’s Classified Employee of the year, and we can all agree that she makes Franklin a better place.  According to SDC teacher Mrs. Jocelyn Garcia, who works closely with her, “Mrs. Uy does her best work/duties all the time.  She goes beyond what is expected of her. When given a duty/task, she plans and organizes ahead so it will be successful.  She is committed to help students based on their needs/challenges, and recognizes and accepts individual differences on the students’ learning styles and needs.  She shows respect and kindness to all.  She attends and participates in work related activities that will help her and students she is working with.  [Mrs. Uy] is very civic oriented and also very thoughtful.  She volunteers for most fundraising activities in and out of school.” Mrs. Takacs adds, “She is always smiling and so generous when she is part of the group doing lunch for the staff.”  And whenever another staff member needs help, Mrs. Uy is always there to lend a hand. Congratulations on the honor of being Franklin’s Classified Employee of the Year!

Mrs. Uy and Ms. My Le were honored at the Franklin McKinley School District’s Staff Appreciation Lunch on May 17thwhere superintendent, Mr. Juan Cruz, presented them with their awards and where Franklin staff gathered to congratulate and cheer for them.
